The CSON Continuing Education (CE) Program strengthens the knowledge of nurses and other health care professionals—empowering them to improve the quality of patient care.
Through an array of certificate programs, preparatory seminars, specialty courses, and conferences, the program helps nurses and other professionals refresh their résumés, earn contact hours, and advance their careers.
Participants can take one course or a series of courses to complete a certificate. They learn from faculty experts actively working in their fields and benefit from a flexible structure designed to meet their schedules.
RN REFRESHER - Meet with the Assistant Dean to learn all about the RN Refresher Certificate Program. Topics will include an overview of the content and format of each of the required courses, scheduling of the classes, and costs. During this time, you will meet other nurses who are facing similar career challenges and discuss how the RN Refresher Certificate fits into a strategy to re-enter the workforce, change specialties, prepare for licensure, or update clinical skills. The Boston College Connell School of Nursing Continuing Education Program is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Association Massachusetts, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Our most popular certificate includes seven comprehensive courses designed for RNs who have been away from the clinical setting and professionals seeking a career change. Through the program, participants regain clinical confidence and update their medical-surgical knowledge. They can customize the program by creating their own schedule, entering the program at any time, sequencing the courses to fit their needs, and adding electives that further strengthen their résumés.

A series of four multidisciplinary courses covers the entire landscape of pharmaceutical/clinical research—including research conduct, the drug development process, and the ethics and history of clinical research. Participants examine the roles clinical research associates, clinical research coordinators, data specialists, subject recruiters, monitors, compliance administrators, and other specialists play in this rapidly expanding field.
New graduates and medical professionals interested in pharmaceutical/clinical research or biotech careers

This certificate comprises three courses, treating the history and principles of venipuncture and IV therapy, site selection, preparation, care, equipment, and central lines. Courses have limited enrollment and fill up quickly.
Intended for nurses who want to refresh their IV therapy knowledge and techniques.
Spanish is the first language of a large percentage of the population nurses and others serve. These courses in conversational medical Spanish help health care professionals complete common tasks more effectively and provide more culturally sensitive care. All Medical Spanish courses use the same required texts.

Students and others gearing up to take the NCLEX, LSAT, GMAT, GRE, or MCAT can boost their confidence—and their scores—with expert help. All classes occur on the Boston College campus. Discounts are available for participants who register early or register simultaneously for either the RN Refresher Certificate or the Clinical Research Certificate.
Established in 1992, this annual gathering is co-sponsored by the CSON CE Program, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association. A variety of workshops, clinical sessions, keynote addresses, industry exhibits, and poster presentations help nurse practitioners and other health care professionals maintain their expertise so they can continue to deliver high quality care and improve clinical outcomes. An evening reception and awards ceremony encourages networking and recognizes outstanding achievements.
