Barbara Jones, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Affairs
Barbara Jones is Vice President for Student Affairs at Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. A student affairs administrator, she has served at a variety of institutions including Miami University, University of Memphis, Minnesota State University-Mankato, Ball State University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She is a former President of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, an organization with 13,000 members at 1400 institutions in 28 countries. Jones received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. She is passionate about higher education and has been involved in several national initiatives such as the Task Force on the Future of Student Affairs, the International Center for Student Success and Institutional Accountability, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Graduation Rate Study and the American Council on Education/ Kellogg Project on Leadership and Institutional Transformation. Most recently she co-edited a publication on student affairs during a time of fiscal crisis. She has been recognized with the Elizabeth A. Greenleaf Distinguished Alumni Award from Indiana University, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Pillar of the Profession Award and Region IV East award for Outstanding Performance as a Senior Student Affairs Officer.
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Student Title IX Coordinator
Melinda most recently served as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students at Framingham State University, where she worked for 14 years. As a licensed psychologist, Melinda was initially hired as the Director of the Counseling Center at FSU and then later moved into the Dean of Students position in 2008. Her predoctoral work involved work at Radford University and Indiana University Counseling Centers and also the opportunity to establish counseling services at St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. Melinda is an active member of NASPA and serves on the regional board (nominations and elections coordinator) and is a participant in NASPA's SERVE Academy. She was recognized in March as the inaugural recipient of the AVP/Senior-Level Student Affairs Professional Award.
In addition to work in higher education, Melinda has prior clinical and administrative experience in the Massachusetts State Prison System and in community mental health.
Director of Finance and Business Operations
Jonathan Hinrichs is Director of Finance and Business Operations. He is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, accounting, resource allocation, and business services for the Division of Student Affairs. Jonathan joined Boston College directly from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he managed the financial and business operations for a unit of the university. Prior to that, he worked in finance and operations in the outdoor products industry and also spent time as a cartographer with National Geographic.
Jonathan Hinrichs holds an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado and a B.S. from Mary Washington College.
Special Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Special Projects
Carrie Klemovitch serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Special Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. In her role, Carrie oversees special projects across the division and has oversight of communications and strategic planning.
Prior to joining the Division of Student Affairs, Carrie worked in University Advancement at Boston College for a number of years as a member of the School Relations team, working closely with the Carroll School of Management. Before coming back to her alma mater, Carrie served as a Class Officer in the Harvard College Fund and spent three years working at Accenture, in their financial services strategy practice.
Carrie holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, as well as a Masters in Educational Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Assistant Director, Marketing and Communications
Lisa Berasi is the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications for the Division of Student Affairs. She is responsible for the execution of marketing strategies and communications, graphics, branding, and oversees the division’s online presence.
Previously, Lisa worked as a senior graphic designer and marketing associate for a financial services company, specializing in requests for proposal development, brand management, and the creation of print and web publications. Most recently she worked as a business development manager for a government relations firm and as a freelance graphic designer in the biotechnology, education, and financial services industries.
Lisa Berasi holds a B.A. in Studio Art from Lake Forest College, a Certificate in Graphic Design from the Museum School of Fine Arts in Boston, and a MS.A. from Boston College.
